About the Author:
Dr. Kaustav Misra is associate dean of school of business at the Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), overseeing undergraduate and graduate programs quality, schedule management, AACSB accreditation, enrollment, managing budget and staffing. Dr. Misra gained his collegiate faculty experience first at University of Southern Mississippi, then progressed through the faculty ranks at Saginaw Valley State University earning tenure and the rank of professor. Prior to joining CCSU, Dr. Misra was a chair of the Department of Economics at Saginaw Valley State University for more than 5 years. Also, he was the chair of research and publication committee of the college of business and management for more than 3 years. He was associated with the Vitito Global Leadership Institute since the inception and served as a chair of this program for about 4 years. He served as a co-chair on another leadership program in the College, Cardinal Business Edge for 5 years. He has published in Economics of Education Review, Journal of Socio-Economics, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship. Dr. Misra is the recipient of the 2009 Best Graduate Student Paper in Economics from the Academy of Finance and Economic Conference, Best Doctoral Paper in the Entrepreneurship/Information Technology/Innovation track for 2011 for the Southern Management Association, and Best Paper Presentation Award in 2008 at the International Conference on Economic and Management Perspectives (ICEMP). Dr. Misra has also been honored by Grand Valley State University as a Family Owned Business Institute Research Scholar (2009). He received the Outstanding Research Award and the Outstanding Service Award in 2014 and 2017 and the Earl Warrick Award for Excellence in Research in 2018, respectively. He received multiple grants to conduct various projects. In November 2018, he secured an external competitive grant for 3 years, the Ruth and Ted Braun Fellowship. Recently, Dr. Misra was invited to join the Direct Selling Education Foundation as a fellow. Moreover, he has been certified by International Leadership Associate in Leadership Challenge Workshop Certified Facilitator. Highly engaged in students’ success in pertaining to experiential learning, retention and international students. Never the less, he is a pro-community leader who took various initiatives and leadership role and work with various associations to promote diversity and developing awareness in the tri-city area.
